Travel to the Top in Comfort
Join us for an intriguing and provocative journey through space and time. On your way to the summit you'll learn about the remarkable evolution and changes the Big Island has experienced. Our dinner stop at a historic ranch outpost features a hot, picnic style dinner. After dinner we make our way to the summit.

Sunset at the Summit
Once at the summit you are afforded spectacular views of the horizon, Haleakala on Maui, Mauna Kea's world-class array of telescopes and the famous Mauna Kea sunset. Here you'll experience the spiritual energy of what many Hawaiians believe to be the most sacred place in all the islands. At the summit you stand on top of the world's tallest mountain which rises from the ocean floor to more than 31,000 feet in elevation. In your hooded parka, you'll stand in awe at both nature's sublime creation and man's astonishing technological achievements.

Star Gazing & Talking Story
After sunset we descend back to the 9000-foot elevation next to the Visitor Information Station. Here we set up our own telescope and have a sky party. Wrapped warm in Arctic parkas, with hot beverages and chocolate macadamia nut cookies, you'll marvel at the brilliance of the Hawaiian sky. Enjoy as your Naturalist Guide's entertaining story of the infinite world of the observable universe offers you a personal and educational look at the heavens.

Dinner Menu: Includes Minestrone Soup, Fresh Grilled Vegetables with Rice Medley and Chocolate Coma Cookies (chocolate chips, cherries, almonds, & oatmeal), plus your choice of the following Entrees:

What to Bring: Long warm pants, closed shoes, layering garments, and camera.

Restrictions: Because of high altitude this tour is not advised for those with respiratory, circulatory, or heart conditions, pregnancy, poor health, or children under 16 years old. Scuba divers should be aware of altitude dangers.
