Walk on the Wild Side
This half-day hike provides a rare opportunity to skirt the rim of the Big Island's most immense and best-loved valley. An historic trail takes you to places where you can securely view the ocean and the valley floor over 1,000 feet below.

Crucial times in the Hawaii's past unfold in the scenery at your fee. Imagination comes alive as the guide's narration blends with the spectacular scenery to erase the bounds of time.

The hiking is excellent - through rainforest and fields, across foot bridges over streams, by waterfalls and pools (bring your suit and towel!). The setting is unmatched anywhere.

NOTE:
Closed shoes with good traction are a MUST. Rainforest paths are well-maintained natural surfaces with some grass, rocks, roots, and often, mud. This area is renowned for its dynamic weather. Hikers need to be prepared for sun (with a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen) and for cool, moist air and wind (with a light jacket/sweatshirt).

Included: Light backpacks, Rain Wear, Walking Sticks, Insect Repellant, Food and Beverages (Deli-Style lunch, Cookies, Macadamia Nuts, Juice/Soda, and Bottled Water). Naturalist Guide Services at the ratio of one guide per ten hikers.
Bring: Bring or wear a swimsuit and towel for optional waterfall pool swimming.
