A Legendary Golf Course
The "Cave of Makalei" is a legend about Makalei, a little boy who found a water source for his family and enabled them to prosper. The legend tells of a young Makalei coming across a deep hole, partially covered by large slabs of stone. The wind rushed out of the hole and he ran to tell his father. His father moved the stones and save a deep cave extending into the mountain. In honor of his sons' discovery he named the cave of water "He Ano Makalei," which means Consecrated to Makalei.
