Visit the #1 Beach in America
Set sail from Maui’s Lahaina Harbor at 7:30am and watch for Spinner
Dolphins (Humpback Whales too, Dec-May) as we sail the pristine Pacific
waters toward our destination, the remote island of Lanai. Lanai has
earned the title “Hawaii’s Most Enticing Island” and is a place of truly
unrivaled natural beauty. During the 2 hour sail from Maui’s Lahaina
Harbor, enjoy a delightful continental breakfast including Mom’s
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls (a 4th generation Coon Family recipe),
our exclusive Captains Kona Coffee Blend, frothy hot cocoa, fresh
island fruit platter and Hawaii pineapple juice. Experience the thrill
of a real blue water snorkel in one of several little-known locations
along the coastline of Lanai, take advantage of our water slide, or
just relax on the catamaran and soak up the sun.
Your next activity on this non-stop adventure gets you up-close and
personal with the largest known pod of Spinner Dolphins in Hawaii.
Board our high speed, jet drive Zodiac, the Manele Kai for a one hour
Dolphin Watching tour along Lanai’s Kona Coast. Our on-board Hawaii
Certified Marine Naturalists love to share their knowledge of these
intelligent and playful mammals! Have your cameras ready; they’re
called spinner dolphins for a reason! Between December and April,
keep your eyes peeled for Humpback Whale sightings.
Landward for Ono Grinds
Hungry yet? Get your land legs as we head inland for a home-style BBQ Chicken
meal with all the fixings served at the Hale O Manele Pavilion, overlooking
Manele Bay and enjoy a leisurely breakfast as we make our way to the island of LanaiLying on the windy north coast of Lanai, this beach owes its name to the wrecked ships and boats found there. The hull of a Liberty freighter from the Second World War is the largest wreck there. Strong winds pushed vessels on to the reef here, from which there was no escape.
Kaiolohia Beach or "Shipwreck" Beach is the best place for beachcombers looking for "treasures" from beach glass to drift wood to glass floats. The strong currents and coral reefs have caused many "shipwrecks" although the Liberty Ship from World War II was purposely sunk on the reef and still remains visible
Ruins of an old lighthouse marks the trail to the shipwreck on Shipwreck Beach. Many old lighthouses have been removed from service and light beacons have replaced them. The picture to the right shows the ruins and the 'Au'au Channel which divides Lanai and Maui, known for its strong currents and numerous shallow, rocky reefs. Many ships have gone aground along this channel. Molokai, only a few miles away, can be seen in the background. Ancient Hawaiians lived in this area between the 15th and early 19th Century. Petroglyphs can be found on large lava rocks nearby. Many are hidden by sand and thorny kiawe bushes.
Our on-board
Naturalist will be on hand to answer all your marine questions.
Upon arrival at the bay, enjoy world-class snorkeling or hit the sands of
Hulopo'e Beach, voted the #1 Beach in America for sunbathing, Beach
Volleyball, and exploring. All guests enjoy a guided van tour of the islands
old plantation town narrated by a Lanai resident and before we depart for our return to Maui’s Lahaina Harbor.
