Enjoy a Perfect Island Adventure with Captain Steve’s
Captain Steve has been conducting this popular Maui adventure for about
seventeen years; it has stood the test of time and the trial of literally
thousands of guests, many of whom continue to return year after year.
The water is always warm in Hawaii even in the winter and the waters
surrounding Maui and Lanai offer excellent visibility. Snorkeling is a must for
every visitor to the islands and the waters are always clearer when you are
out on a boat away from the sandy shores.
Come aboard with Captain Steve’s and waste no time in discovering the secrets
of the Maui reef, playing with Dolphins or Whales, Turtles or Rays, there is no telling
what we might encounter on any given day. No two trips are alike and that's probably
what keeps the Captains and crew so friendly and accommodating; they are as excited
about going to work as the guests are about going on the Maui Rafting Adventure!
Sea caves, burial caves, towering sea cliffs, secluded coves, lava rock pinnacles make
up the setting for the schools of fish including Butterfly Fish, Parrot Fish, Damsel Fish,
Surgeon Fish, Moorish Idol, Tang, Wrasse, Box Fish, Snowflake Eels, and the former
Hawaii State Fish Humuhumunukunukuapuaa.
Just imagine a pod of 200 Spinner Dolphins ...
putting on a show just for you or swimming next to a rare and endangered Hawaiian Green
Sea Turtle (Honu) in the crystal clear waters of the Pacific, above the most exquisite fringing
reef in the entire State of Hawaii. Perhaps you will catch a glimpse of the most curious
creature on the reef…an octopus (Tako); these masters of disguise are sure to be
Feel the rush of the wind in your hair as we speed across the Maui waves
off the shores of historic Lahaina Town. As we head for the Dolphins and
Lanai with Captain Steve's Hard Bottom Inflatable Vessels, you will quickly
realize why on Maui, we believe that getting there can be half the fun. We
promise that our two vessels, the Cane Fire and Manta Raiv can get you
there faster than all the rest! Each craft is a rigid hulled inflatable, originally
designed for Search & Rescue by the Coast Guard. Both vessels are powered
by twin 200 horsepower computerized smokeless engines, which meet the
new EPA standards.
The Cane Fire is U.S. Coast Guard certified for 24
passengers; the Manta Raiv is certified for 20 passengers. Both are certified
for two seasoned crew members. We limit them to 20 passengers for Canefire
and 16 passengers for the Manta Raiv passengers to ensure the ultimate
in passenger comfort. They offer bench seating with backrests and pontoon
seating and about half of the boat is shaded. The seating is diverse; from the
smooth "Mercedes" seats in the stern, to the "Wild Riding Dolphin Seat" in
the bow. Many prefer the pontoon seating to be closest to the water. The
vessels have dual ladders with wide steps to make boarding from the water
easy. They have the latest safety requirements: V.H.F radio, C.B. radio, cellular
phone, and a class-A Epirb system that identifies them in an emergency.
