Get Off of Maui’s Beaten Paths and Head Upcountry
If you’re looking for something other than the usual beach activities
while in Maui, Haleakala ATV Tours offers a fascinating view of the island
that most tourists never see. We provide visitors with the opportunity to
drive all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) along trails starting at 4,000 feet above
sea level through rolling pastures, offering panoramic views the slopes of
Haleakala and Maui all the way down to the sparkling waters of the Pacific
Ocean far below. Enjoy the best of both worlds with Maui’s own “Haleakala
Fly & Drive Package” Imagine touring Maui's scenic Haleakala Ranch on
your own All Terrain Vehicle. You'll be exploring beautiful rolling hills and
high mountain forest that can only be reached on an ATV. After exploring on
the ground, soar through the rainforest high above the ground for a Mynah
Bird’s eye view of the Maui forest. This custom Haleakala Maui tour will truly
take you where no other tour can!
Haleakala Ranch, which is located at the heart of the Haleakala Volcano,
consists of 30,000 acres of spectacular Maui scenery, indigenous Hawaiian
rain forests, ecological preserves, and a working cattle ranch. The ranch has
made much of this natural beauty accessible to the public through Haleakala
ATV Tours. Hawaiian cowboys (paniolos) have used ATVs for years in their
ranch work, so ATV tours are a natural fit here. The Haleakala ATV Zipline
Combo Tour is a real adventure for those who want to get off the beaten
path and see a part of Maui few people even know about. Hawaii's diverse
climate adds a unique atmosphere to each tour, which is equally enjoyable
on crystal clear mornings or rainy afternoons.
Two Exciting Haleakala Adventures in One Great Afternoon
At the beginning of each tour, the necessary gear is issued. Knowledgeable
Hawaii Certified guides then instruct guests on safety and operation of the
ATV. Participants drive Honda Rancher 350cc 4x4 ATVs, which are very stable
and comfortable for both first-time and experienced riders. A well laid out
practice area gives a good idea of what the actual trail will be like; then the
journey begins. From start to finish, the track is both challenging and exciting.
Rocky terrain, wild pig ruts, rain-filled gullies and steep climbs make for an
unforgettable ride. Along the trail, you’ll learn about Maui's endemic apapane
birds, blooming ohia and koa trees, thick amau ferns and much more.
After a 6-8 mile guided ATV tour, our specially trained staff will outfit you with
a customized seat harness and equipment before leading you into the woods,
and on to the adventure. Then it’s off through the forest of fragrant Rainbow
Eucalyptus for a short half mile hike. Imagine yourself soaring over gulches
and through the trees along the slopes of one of the world's largest volcanoes!
The Zipline tour gets your heart-pumping as you sail across each of our ziplines,
allowing a once in a life time, bird’s eye view of the seasonal Maui waterfalls and
vegetation below. This adventure includes an “Indiana Jones” style swinging
bridge, an introduction to Hawaii’s unique and fragile landscape, and an exciting
series of 5 picturesque zipline crossings over a 70 foot deep gulch beginning
with slow and easy and progressing to our final thrill ride!
